 Cocomats
I have been eying a new interior modification for a while... Cocomats are higher quality floor mats made from coconut husk fibers or sisal fibers from the Agave cactus. Cocomats were first popular in the old school euro segment, originally designed for Porsche roadsters that came without carpeting. Some Mercedes came with cocomats from the factory in the 1960s and 70s. These floormats are pretty cool, they have a rubber bottom and a nice rubber heelpad. They are designed so that the dirt and pebbles that naturally get tracked into your car sift through the fibers and get trapped in the rubber backing, you are supposed to shake them out instead of vacuuming them. A bunch of companies make them, but apparently http://www.cocomats.com/ mats are the best quality ($190 for a set of 4 custom fit floormats, add up to $250 for the trunk mat if desired but why wouldn't you want it to match?). They make some cool colors that might look good in our cars. I am eying black sisal, black with red coco, and black with grey. I have contacted cocomats.com for a couple of sample swatches, hopefully they are quick to send those out! And of course, a few pictures. Black sisal pattern Black with blue dot coco pattern Black with grey dot in an old school euro... identification on the car? It looks like a "stallion" to me... Black with grey dot pattern Black with red dot pattern Blue with natural coco pattern Blue with white dot pattern Straight old school styled coco mats (the origins of this style) Black with red dot trunk mat Blue with white dot trunk mat The alternative are JDM Karo mats, which are incredibly hard to find, inferior quality, and I'm not even sure they're offered in LHD for our model...

 Re: Cocomats
And here I thought I was the only one that contacted these people. I tried a few months ago to the point of seeming annoying as hell...but if you have better luck, let me know. I've been in the market for these for a while.

 Re: Cocomats
Yeah, they got back to me today saying my swatches would be in the mail tomorrow and that they are checking on the Impreza pattern template. If they do not carry the template they will send you out some paper and instructions on how to make the template for you so it still wouldn't be a dead end.

 Re: Cocomats
^OH SWEET! Hey good job on that hookup. They gave me one hell of a runaround and I just got fed up with the crap.
If you could PM your contact name and number (if it is a direct number) and e-mail (if it is a direct e-mail) to me, that would be great. If you don't mind, I'd also like to check out the swatches you requested.

 Re: Cocomats
I clicked the "contact" tab on their website, you type your message directly into that page and leave your contact info for them to reply. For sure I will bring my samples to the first Monday meet after I get them (probably the 21st) for you to look at. I'm thinking the black with red dot may be a good choice for my car, although I have heard that the sisal fiber is softer, which may be kind of nice in black. I had a feeling that these would be old news to you, lol.
That company has a lot of good info on their website, it's definitely worth a look.

 Re: Cocomats
Sounds like a plan. I am really excited to see them. A friend of the family introduced me to them when I was babbling about doing the interior of my car and those Karo mats. Good to know I am not the only one picky on the quality of product I surround myself in.

 Re: Cocomats
after cleaning my interior today, I've decided that once I get the engine up and running I think I may get some of these! Getting tired of all the dirt and tree crap just laying all over the car, plus I could really really really use a new trunk liner once I get rid of my sub. These mats just really add to the car in a good way

 Re: Cocomats
Ah yes thank you, what I ment to say, was get a smaller sub that I can maybe fit under a seat or something....having a 12 inch that takes up the WHOLE trunk is so damn annoying and not practical at all.

 Re: Cocomats
Look into an Audio Integrations sub enclosure, they fit into the corner by the taillight and don't take up much space.

 Re: Cocomats
Audio Integrations are incredible as are the MTX Thunder Enclosure series. I had a Thunder enclosure in my Beetle and it was perfect.
Too bad AI doesn't made a 12" one for the hatch...damned restrictions.

 Re: Cocomats
haha thanks guy for the info, definitely going to get one when I get a new trunk liner, didn't mean to change the thread...now back to interior pieces!! I'm thinking either black/white spots or black/blue spots, either one would match really well with my interior

 Re: Cocomats
I'm thinking the black/grey dots in your car, Will. That would look nice

 Re: Cocomats
I still have those samples if you want to take another look at them. I haven't ordered any cocomats yet, since they are really low on my priority list with the car not running at the moment. I still plan to order up a set whenever I'm able to...
