 Back to Suspension.
I think that I am not going to put springs on my WRX 2010 right away. Instead I think I am going to put strut bars in the vehicle instead to improve the handling. I also think I am going to put sway bars on the vehicle to reduce body roll. Strut bars by my understand improve the handling by forcing the suspension to do more of the work. The sway bars reduce body roll. So I think installing those before coilovers would be more advantageous. I think after that I am going to put cusco zero 2E coilover after that to complete the package. Let me know what the deal with is you guys. Also send me some pictures of you're cars so I can see what y'all are doing. :haha:

Post Re: Back to Suspension.
Based only on personal experience -- not speaking as a performance expert -- but just as a guy who's modified a couple of Subies for tracking ...

Springs and Swaybars are a combination done to improve handling, increase control, and reduce body roll. They are, dollar-for-dollar, a very good investment.

Coilovers are a whole different experience that may or may not be improved by Swaybars. Pricey, but worth it if you're committed to throwing your ride around Pacific Raceways for $280/day.

My advice would be (annoyingly enough) a few questions:

What do you want your end-state to be?
Are you going to track your car?
What are you willing/able to spend?
What are you willing/able to sacrifice?

KW (or even Tein) coilovers would be best for controlling body roll, but would still benefit from good swaybars. A relative GOB of muhneez, tho'. And if you're willing to go that far, then you need to also factor in the cost of Whiteline PSRS and Roll-Center kits (about $1000 right there w/o install costs) just to offset the bumpsteer induced by the lowered ride height. But if you're willing to toss your back seats and install a rollbar, then heck, what's the price delta?

Springs and Swaybars are a cheaper combo, and most excellent for occasionally spirited driving. Frankly, unless you're tracking your car, I would strongly encourage you to "just" go the Springs-and-Swaybars route.

Ride height reference pic (as posted elsewhere) for an 07 STi rolling Coilovers and Swaybars, with Whiteline PSRS and Roll-Center kits:

As opposed to my 08 WRX using just Cobb Sport Springs and Cobb Swaybars:

EDIT: Both rides mine and both shots taken at PR ... point is that ride height isn't all that different, so if looks are a criteria then they shouldn't be. Hope that helps

Let's not open this can of worms up again. I think our egos have been petted more times than Miss November's centerfold in regards to this issue.

In short: Timm's take: Coilovers = NO! Unless racing.

But then again no cares what Timm says...LOL!

This car is my daily driver. I do not really know if I am going to take it to the track. I want to take it there at least one to see how it is going to perform. I love pushing my sooby and seeing what she can do!!! I think springs may be the way to go. because I want these mods like yesterday, and springs are much cheaper.

Pat...text me when you are in town and we'll see if we can get something going. The crew is pretty good about last minute shindigs.

^OH NO SHIT! Nice! Let me know when you are going to be there. I live 20 minutes away and work less than 10.

And you mean VTR. LOL! I got mine done there a few days ago and then got it tuned at Resolution. I'll have you take a listen when I see you.
